Silverton Country Historical Society was established in 1974 and the museum was opened to the public July, 1976. It serves the general “Silverton area” in order to encompass the original communities that played a significant role in the development and growth of the town known as Silverton. Silverton was surveyed, platted and incorporated in 1854, four years before Oregon became a state. Much of our collection has been donated by families who descended from pioneers of the 1850’s.
